RAWALPINDI, May 18: Preparations are underway to interlink the offices of inspectors general of police of the four provinces and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Headquarter’s Interpol section, Islamabad, it has been learnt. The Anti-Narcotics Force and Customs have already been linked with the FIA.

A source told Dawn that the process of interlinking the IGP offices and the FIA headquarters would be completed in a few days.

He said this step would help fight crime, drug-trafficking and terrorist activities.

The sources said after the link was established, law- enforcement agencies would have access to information on stolen vehicles, artworks and travel documents, besides complete record of criminals involved either in terrorism or petty crimes.

He said the FIA had already taken several steps to curb human trafficking which included posting of computer literate staff at immigration counters and formation of Anti-Trafficking Unit at FIA Headquarters.
