ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s men outclassed Singapore 2-0 on Friday to qualify for the semi-finals of the 19th Asian Team Squash Championship being staged in Cheongju, South Korea.

Pakistan’s Farhan Zaman defeated Vivian Rhamanan of Singapore 13-11, 11-2, 11-6 while Farhan’s compatriot Amaad Fareed subdued Timothy Leong 11-8, 11-5, 11-3 to steer Pakistan to the last four.

In the championship Pakistan’s men team were placed in pool ‘B’ alongside South Korea, Philippines and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s women in the championship were outplayed 0-3 by Hong Kong in their pool ‘A’ match.

Madian Zafar of Pakistan lost to Hong Kong’s Au Wing Chi 11-6, 11-3, 11-7; Faiza Zafar was crushed by Ho Tze Lok 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 and Riffat Khan was comfortably beaten by Tong Tsz Wing 11-6, 11-1, 11-3.

Pakistan’s women outfit are in pool ‘A’ with Hong Kong, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
