SIALKOT, May 17: A lumberdar died while avoiding arrest when a police party raided his house in Pandoriyaan Motra village, Daska, on Tuesday. Reports said a team of Motra police led by ASI Boota Khan raided lumberdar Shamoun Khan’s house to arrest his son Arif Khan for his alleged involvement in a dacoity case.

On seeing the police, Shamoun became panicked and tried to escape from his house using a ladder. However, he could not keep balance and fell. He died instantly.

In an application filed with the police authorities, the family accused the raiding team of harassing the deceased, demanding registration of case against them.

In a later development, the Motra police have registered a case against Sub-Inspector Rashid Majeed, ASI Boota Goraya and four constables under the Police Ordinance-2000, section 154.
