KARACHI: The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Housing and Works on Tuesday expressed its serious concern and displeasure over complaints that a housing project in Karachi had not got electricity despite completing all formalities due to the “attitude” of the housing company.

The committee, which met here at Qasr-i-Naz, also set up a body to be headed by MNA Shahida Rehmani to look into the allottees’ complaints and take up the matter with the housing company.

“A meeting of the standing committee on housing and works was held under the chairmanship of MNA Mian Abdul Mannan,” said a statement. “While considering the matter pertaining to the issues being faced by the allottees of Maymar project in Karachi, the committee expressed its displeasure on the attitude of Maymar Group towards their allottees. The committee was informed by the allottees that the management was creating hurdles for obtaining electricity connections etc.”

The committee, it said, constituted a subcommittee to address the complaints and look into the issues of the Maymar Group.

The committee highlighted the project and construction quality of the Arkadians of AKD Group, which had built model apartments.

Standing committee visits PMSA office

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defence on Tuesday recommended allocation of a sufficient budget for the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) in the next fiscal year for meeting its requirement.

“The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence visited the headquarters of Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Karachi under the chairmanship of MNA Shaikh Rohale Asghar,” said a statement issued here. “The committee was briefed on the functions, role, challenges and future plans of the PMSA in detail.”
