Black money

Published March 18, 2018

LET us be wise and use the options — less legislation is good legislation as regards Pakistani assets abroad. This may work.

Pakistan and Pakistanis have enough money to invest in all workable projects needed. We just need to soften rules and deregulate businesses and send the Federal Bureau of Revenue on a sound sleep for a few years.

We will reduce import and replace it, we will generate employment and we will double our exports, as well as foreign remittances.

We may not need to look forward to borrowing anymore loans.

All black and undocumented money, including the looted money, be legalised without any penalty, taxation and with no questioning for bringing back the money into the country for investment in basic needs, with a 10-year tax holiday, such as water, power, food, education, housing and health sectors lest we ended up losing all that to foreign banks.

Let us stick to our real issues like poverty, peace and unemployment and let us be practical. Our courts , our martial laws all have so far failed to bring the ill-gotten money back.

Let us be wise to use the options which may work.

Let us take the initiative of forgive, forget and move forward for the sake of our future generations, let us be forward-looking leaving the past behind, develop understanding and find common grounds and synergise our collective strength for our common good, forgive all , forget everything and reconcile with our current status and collectively offer an apology and surrender to the need of the time to get ourselves disciplined and self-regulated. How can we reap peace if we continue sowing seeds of hatred and division?

If the judiciary had the power to self-regulate, it ought to have exercised it instead of involving the legislature.
