QUETTA: The Advocate General of Balochistan, Amanullah Kanrani, has resigned and announced taking part in the elections of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SBCA) to be held in October.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he said: “I have tendered my resignation to the governor Balochistan.”

He said he would contest the SCBA elections for the post of president. “I need maximum time to launch my election campaign throughout the country,” Mr Kanrani said.

He said that he could not run the election campaign and also continue fulfilling his responsibilities as AG Balochistan.

He said that he had in 2013 contested the SCBA elections after resigning from the post of AG post but could not actively run the campaign due to shortage of time. “I hope the chief minister will accept my resignation on his return from abroad,” he said, adding that this time he and his colleagues had decided to start election campaign early.
