RAWALPINDI: Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Monday directed the tourism department to make Kotli Sattian a tourist attraction.

He also asked the National Highways Authority to complete PC-I of Islamabad-Kotli Sattian road within a week.

He was reviewing the development work in a meeting of Divisional Development Working Party in Rawalpindi Division. Commissioner Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Tariq Salam Marwat and other officials concerned were also present at the meeting.

The minister said that the government wanted to provide another hill station to the tourists and Kotli Sattian met the criteria.

He was of the view that development work should complete soon so that the people would get the benefit from these projects.

He said the people would soon see the effects of the development works launched by the government.

Commissioner Nadeem Aslam Chaudary gave briefing in the meeting and said that under the special development package, construction of Kahuta by-pass road, 2.5km-long Maira-Nathot road in Tehsil Kahuta was underway costing Rs132.912 million.

He said after its completion this road traffic would ease.

He directed the contractors to ensure quality material was used in this project.

Besides, he also directed to expedite the pace of work so that it could be completed on time.

“The Punjab government is vigilant to providing its people with better health, medical and education facilities for which several schemes have been initiated,” he shared.

The commissioner said roads development in rural areas was given special preference.

The finance and planning officials said that under development projects launched by the PML-N government, roads worth Rs39.905 million would be completed soon in Murree and adjoining areas.

They said the government had allocated Rs43.279 million for road structures and Rs1.663 million for road furniture. Other schemes expenditures are Rs48.065 million.

They said that once completed this project would bring relief to the people.
