Shoaib not interested in acting

KARACHI, May 15: Fiery Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said on Sunday he was not interested in a role in an Indian movie because winning back a place in the national cricket team was his first priority.

“I am a cricketer and want to remain a cricketer. At the moment my priority is to win back my place in the national team,” Shoaib said.

Reports said Shoaib had been approached by Indian film producer Mahesh Bhatt for a role in his upcoming film.

Shoaib said he had cordial relations with the Indian director and often met him but would not be changing his career.

“What I do best is bowl fast, I am not interested in acting for the time being,” said Shoaib, dropped from Pakistan’s team to tour the West Indies due to lack of fitness.

“Bhatt is coming to Pakistan next week to talk to me about his offer as he believes he will convince me but I believe in my cricketing talent and surely I would prefer that,” said Shoaib.—AFP
