FAISALABAD, May 15: National Coordination Committee for District Public Safety Commissions and Police Complaint Commissions chairman Ehsan Ahmed and provincial coordinator Alamdar Husain have said the bureaucracy is not implementing their orders. At a news conference here at Circuit House on Sunday, they said not even a single action had been taken on the orders of the commissions throughout the country.

They alleged the provincial governments, top police officers and bureaucrats were main hurdles in implementation of the Police Order 2002 and working of the public safety commissions.

They lamented that lack of interest on the part of the government could be judged from the fact that no notification of the safety commissions had so far been issued in 15 districts in the country, including four in Punjab.

They claimed that many safety commission members were booked in concocted cases in different parts of the country for preventing them from initiating action against policemen.

They said not a single meeting had so far been called by all the four chief ministers and governors to monitor the performance of safety commissions. — Staff Correspondent
