ABBOTTABAD: The Peshawar High Court, Abbottabad circuit bench, on Wednesday ordered lifting of 15-day ban on entry of rickshaws into the Haripur city.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Lal Jan Khattak and Justice Syed Arshad Shah, while giving verdict on a writ petition filed by rickshaw drivers association against ban on entry of the tri-wheelers in Haripur for 15 days every month, set aside the ban imposed by the district administration.

During the hearing, the defence lawyer told the court that the district administration had ordered entry of rickshaws into the Haripur city for 15 days a month under a new traffic plan.

He said that the district administration had implemented new traffic system in the district four months ago to regularise the traffic in the city by introducing turn system for the three-wheelers.

The decision of the district administration was challenged by the rickshaw owners association in PHC Abbottabad bench, saying that the ban would deprive them of their only source of income.
