PESHAWAR: After natural death of fallow deer last week, the Peshawar Zoo lost another wild animal when a wolf killed a monkey on Saturday night, an official said.

The management had kept both the animals in the same cage. The wolf attacked monkey late night that resulted in its death.

Zoo manager Mohammad Ali Shah while confirming death of the monkey termed it a normal issue. “Such incidents can happen in zoo,” he said, adding that wolf and monkey were sharing same enclosure. He said that both the wild animals had association.

A four-year-old fallow deer of American-African origin had expired in the zoo on Wednesday last.

Officials declined to explain cause of the death of deer and said the animal was property of the contractor.
