SHIKARPUR, May 13: One person was killed and two others injured in a clash between Jatoi and Mahar tribesmen in the Taib Khan village, Lakhi taluka, on Friday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Hakeem Jatoi. The injured were police constable Nisar Ahmed Mahar and villager Gulab Mahar.

The injured constable who is said to be the security guard of the Shikarpur district nazim, received bullet wounds when a group of Jatoi clansmen opened fire on him when he was on his way to his village.

Residents of the Mahar-dominated Taib village immediately rushed to the spot and opened fire on the Jatois killing Abdul Hakeem Jatoi while Gulab Mahar received bullet injuries.

The injured were shifted to the civil hospital, Shikarpur.

The motive behind the incident is said to be the Jatoi-Mahar tribal feud.

No FIR was registered till the filing of this report.

However, Ghulam Rasool Jatoi, brother of the deceased, told newsmen that a group 25 armed Mahar tribesmen attacked them with automatic weapons.

RALLY: Activists of Jamaat-i-Islami staged a demonstration at the Lakhi Gate tower chowk to protest against desecration of the Holy Quran by the American troops in Guantanamo Bay, here on Friday evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Sadaruddin Mahar, Abdul Qayoom Memon and other JI leaders condemned the act of the American troops and demanded of the Pakistan government to raise the matter at the international Fora.
