QUETTA, May 13: A bomb exploded on the premises of the heavily guarded Quetta district courts on Friday night. No loss of life or serious damage was reported. Police said that the device with a timer had been planted on the lawns of the district courts.

The offices of the SSP, district nazim and some other departments are located on the court premises.

“Under-construction toilets have been slightly damaged while windowpanes of some offices have been broken,” police officials said, adding that the culprits had used a locally-made device.

Meanwhile, police have arrested some suspects for their alleged involvement in five bomb explosions in Turbat on Thursday night.

Police sources said two blasts occurred in quick succession at the Thana Road. The first explosion took place 50 yards from a school owned by the Frontier Corps smashing its windowpanes.

Shortly afterwards, a device planted in front of the gate of Irrigation Colony went off, causing panic among the residents.

Another blast was reported at around 10.30pm near a refrigerator repairing shop, damaging the shutters of some shops.
