RAWALPINDI: Eleven people were injured, including an official of the Airport Security Force, on Friday.

The new strategies that the police employed for keeping a check on kite flying, including climbing on to roof tops with ladders and using search lights in the night, proved ineffective and many kites could be seen in the skies on Friday.

The police had made 129 arrests on Thursday, registered 80 cases and impounded vehicles and equipment as well. They made announcements on mega phones and from mosques against the kite flying and firing in the air.

A spokesperson for the police said the police continued with its campaign against kite flying and firing on Friday and arrested 89 people and registered 73 cases.

An ASF official, 30-year-old Shahid Mehmood was injured during firing while he was on duty at a watch tower in the airport.

Six-year-old Noman Qasir suffered injuries after falling from the roof of his house when officials of the Dolphin Squad tried to enter his house to stop him from flying kites in Jhangi Mohallah in the Waris Khan police area.
