PESHAWAR, May 12: Additional District and Sessions Judge Shahid Khan on Thursday referred an accused facing trial for killing his wife to a psychiatric hospital after he started behaving like a mentally deranged person.

The court had fixed Thursday for pronouncing judgment in the case as the trial against the accused, Bukht Munir, has been completed.

While the presiding officer was about to pronounce the verdict, the accused started crying and demanding that he be taken home.

His counsel argued that he was suffering from a mental ailment and was in a state of disorientation.

Suspending the trial for six months, the court ordered that the accused be shifted to a psychiatric hospital adjacent to the Peshawar central prison where his complete check-up be conducted and the court be informed about his mental

status.
