DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 12: Lawyers have decided to continue strike till the withdrawal of cases registered against their 36 colleagues. They held a meeting on Thursday which was presided over by District Bar Association president Malik Faiz Mohammad.

They unanimously decided that the strike would be spread throughout the Punjab till the withdrawal of cases.

Sources told Dawn that due to the intervention of higher authorities, police and lawyers would soon withdraw cases against each other.

Cases were registered against 36 lawyers on Wednesday on the charge of storming the record room of DPO office and beating a constable.

ROAD BLOCKED: People blocked the College Road in protest against delay in postmortem examination on the body of a youth who was shot dead by highwaymen on Wednesday night.

They blocked the road for four hours near the mortuary and district jail. Police did not pay heed to the strike and the protesters dispersed peacefully.

However, a case was registered after 20 hours of the incident and postmortem was done.
