Five killed in accident

QUETTA, May 12: At least five women were killed and 10 others injured, three of them seriously, when a van carrying a marriage party overturned on the Quetta-Karachi highway near Saruna on Thursday. “Five women, including two sisters, succumbed to their injuries on the spot,” Levies Zonal Director Arbab Naiz Mohammad Kasi said, adding that the injured were admitted to the Uthal hospital. Those killed in the accident are: Khan Bibi, Somri, Gul Khatoon, Husna and Rashida.

The marriage party was on its way to Saruna from Dureji when its driver lost control over it near Randan village.

“The accident took place due to speeding,” levies officials said, adding that the driver was also injured.
