PESHAWAR: Evening OPD has been started at the General (retired) Naseerullah Babar Hospital here for patients living in the surrounding areas.

The patients with dental illnesses, orthopaedic and cardiac problems could be seen free of cost from 2pm to 8pm in addition to the morning OPD which will remain in progress from 8am to 2pm, according to a press release issued here on Tuesday.

The new arrangement has been made in line with the provincial government’s directives to make the hospitals operational round-the-clock.

Dr Siraj Mohammad, medical superintendent of the hospital, said a cardiac care unit had also become functional to provide treatment to critically-ill patients.

The hospital, he said had also been giving emergency services to children and women along with diagnostic services.

The people having Sehat Insaf Card can also seek treatment at the hospital for which a separate counter has been set up, he said.

The system of the hospital has been computerised to ensure fast-track services to the population, he added.

Dr Siraj said upgradation of the facilities was also meant to facilitate the population of surrounding areas and lessen burden of patients on the tertiary care hospitals.
