ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has assured the representatives of the apparel sector of taking measures to boost exports.

He stated this while talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Apparel Forum (PAF), led by its chairman Muhammad Jawed Bilwani on Wednesday.

The association in a press release claimed that Mr Abbasi has promised a separate tariff would be announced soon for the textile export sector.

The PAF team pledged to increase exports by 15 per cent if the sector is extended maximum facilitation.

Meanwhile, separately a delegation of American Business Council (ABC), headed by its president Kamran Nishat, called on Mr Abbasi and discussed business and investment promotion in Pakistan.

An official statement noted the steps taken by the government towards improving law and order and putting in place a business-friendly environment.

Mr Nishat suggested that by resolving tax-related issues and bringing down input costs would boost confidence of the business community and attract more investments. Mr Abbasi said the government has tasked the Board of Investment to coordinate with the provincial governments for improving ease of doing business.

Highlighting the upward economic growth trajectory, the premier observed that the country has a huge economic and export potential that needs to be exploited. He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has opened up new opportunities that need to be utilised by the business community especially the private sector.
