HYDERABAD, Jan 7: The chairman of Sindhi Language Authority, Prof Dr Mohammad Qasim Bughio, has said that the SLA was translating different law books into Sindhi language.

He added that the law governing the relationship between peasants and landowners had already been translated into Sindhi, the translation of local government law had also been completed and efforts were being made to translate the law about the rights of children.

He was speaking at the concluding session of the 3-day training workshop organized by Sindh Journalists Network (SJN) in collaboration with UNICEF at a local hotel here on Monday.

Referring to the need of the Sindhi translations, he pointed out that the law books about the rights and responsibilities of people were in English and therefore beyond the grasp of an ordinary person.

He deplored that the system of training did not exist in Sindh so much so that even the university teachers were not imparted any training. Prof Bughio said that due to the absence of training, the standard of higher education was deteriorating.

He said that whatever training was given, was outdated and added that in real training the trainer as well as the trainee shared their knowledge and arrived at a final decision after thorough discussion.

He that said that education and health were the corner stones of any society and these sectors deserved priority.

The SLA chief lauded the efforts of the SJN for conducting the training programme and hoped that it would continue to hold such programmes.
