Fine treble by Madeeha

LAHORE, May 10: Punjab’s Madeeha Lateef took the honours when she grabbed three golds on the second day of the Inter-provincial U-17 athletics championships on Tuesday. She won the 200m, discus throw and long jump golds. Seven finals of the girls’ event and six of boys were held on Tuesday. In the girls category, Punjab had claimed nine gold, seven silver and one bronze medals while in boys it had won seven gold and five silver medals.

Sindh boys with one gold and three bronze medals had 38 points are placed second.

Shot-putt: Mohammad Khalil (Punjab) 16.31m; Shahzad Khan (Punjab); Sohail Khan (Islamabad).

Long-jump: Mohammad Umair (Sindh) 6.00m; Mohammad Waheed (AZK), Ghulam Farooq (Sindh).

200m: Imran Ghafoor (Punjab) 23.17sec; Pervez Hasan (NWFP); Mohammad Asif (NWFP).

Triple-jump: Shabbir Ahmed (Punjab) 12.41m; Waheed Sultan (AJK); Mohammad Umair (Sindh). 1500m race: Ali Mohammad (Punjab) four min 9.75 sec; Abdul Malik (Punjab); Jehanzeb (Balochistan).

Discus throw: Mohammad Khalil (Punjab) 55.64m; Zafar Ali (Punjab); Tahir Hussain (Sindh).

Girls:

Triple-jump: Nazia Zulifqar (Punjab) 9.62m; Nausheen Nisar

Islamabad); Ilyas (Punjab).

Discus throw: Madeeha Lateef (Punjab) 28.23m; Aasma Mushtaq (Punjab); Nadia (Islamabad).

Javelin throw: Sobia Sultana (Punjab) 30.33m; Shamaila Hasan (Punjab); Rubina Tabassum (NWFP).

200m: Madeeha Lateef (Punjab) 26.09sec; Rabia (Punjab); Nausheen Nisar (Islamabad).

High-jump: Aasma Rafiq (Punjab) 1.47m; Madeeha Latif (Punjab); Nadia Aashiq (Islamabad).
