KARACHI, May 10: Four persons, including a school teacher, died in road accidents in different parts of the city on Tuesday. A school teacher was knocked down by a speeding minibus near Abdullah College, North Nazimabad. Police said that Naseem, 38, was crossing the main road near Abdullah College when she was hit by a D-55 route minibus. She was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival, police added.

They said that errant driver escaped abandoning the vehicle behind. Later, enraged people of the area damaged the vehicle.

Police said that the victim, mother of seven children, was a resident of Orangi Town.

On Northern Bypass, two people died when a dumper banged their car on early Tuesday morning.

Police said that Dawood and Ali Akbar were coming from Hamdard University Road on the Northern Bypass when a speeding dumper hit their car. The two died on the spot.

SHO Mangopir police said that it was 13th such accident on the Northern Bypass in recent days.

In another accident, an elderly woman was knocked down to death at Nagan Chowrangi on Tuesday evening.

Police said that Anwer Jehan, 60, was crossing the service road when a speeding dumper knocked her down. She was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The errant driver fled leaving the vehicle behind. Some enraged people tried to damage the vehicle, but police presence saved the dumper. The vehicle was later impounded by the police.
