Baba Fareed moot in July

LAHORE, May 8: The World Punjabi Congress will hold a Baba Fareed Conference in Lahore and Sheikhupura in July. Congress chairman Fakhar Zaman said at a reception held for Indian peace marchers here on Sunday that the three-day moot would be organized on July 22, 23 and 24.

He feared that fundamentalists and groups with vested interest could attempt to derail the ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan and called upon masses to remain vigilant to such elements.

The people of both the countries, he hoped, had realized their role as custodian of peace and they would not allow any one to derail the peace process.

Mr Zaman also highlighted the struggle launched by the WPC since 1986 to improve people-to-people contacts between both the countries. The Congress chairman praised the present leadership of Pakistan and India for taking far-reaching steps towards peace.
