DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 8: Crime, especially cell phone snatching and robberies, is on the rise in and around the city, while police seldom bothers to take action against the culprits. Medical Officer Rab Nawaz was deprived of his cell phone and cash in the Doctors’ Colony of DHQ hospital by three unidentified young motorcyclists, who fled from the scene soon after committing the crime.

In another incident, son of one Shamim Ansari was returning home when his cell phone was snatched by some unidentified men.

When contacted, Muharrars at Civil Line, B-division and city police stations, said they had no record of such ‘petty’ crimes.

Meanwhile, robbers fled away with cash and jewellry worth around million rupees from the houses of a lady doctor, Sajida Mehboob and an LHV Salma Sikandar, both living in the Doctors’ Colony.

Such incidents are creating a sense of insecurity among the citizens, as neither city DSP Ehsan Manzoor nor the SHO of the police station concerned are making any efforts to trace the culprits.

Press Club President Ashraf Buzdar, Chamber of Commerce vice-president Zahid Nizam, and doctors at DHQ hospital have urged the police high-ups to take steps to control the increasing crime in the city.
