KHAR: The Higher Education Commission on Friday approved the establishment of the sub-campus of Fata University in Bajaur Agency to ensure higher education facilities to the students.

A decision to set up the sub-campus of Fata University at Government Postgraduate College, Khar, was approved by a team of senior officials of HEC during their visit to the agency.

Officials of Fata University, political administration and MNA from North Waziristan Agency accompanied them who also visited the college to select the site of the sub-campus there.

The HEC team met with the college principal Prof Gul Badshah and informed him about the initiative.

The principal welcomed the initiative and told the team members that the college was the most suitable site for establishing the sub-campus of Fata University as the institute had a lot of additional rooms. Moreover, it was also located along the main road.

Later, the HEC members and varsity officials inspected several sections of the college and found the site appropriate for the sub-campus of the university.

Talking to reporters, the HEC officials said the postgraduate college was suitable site for setting up the university campus. However, they said the sub-campus would be housed in the college temporarily, adding after three years, the commission would procure at least 800 kanals land for a full-fledged building of the university in Bajaur.

They said the HEC would establish a state of the art computer lab and library in the college. They also said the entire college would be put on solar energy before start of university classes there.

To a question, the officials said the HEC planned to establish sub-campuses of the university in all the seven tribal agencies of Fata.
