SUKKUR, May 8: An alleged bandit, Janib Pitafi, wanted by the police in several cases, was killed during an encounter with the police on Sunday morning in Mirpur Mathelo. A police official claimed that on a tip-off, he along with heavy contingent of police, raided the house of Janib near here.

The bandits opened fire which was returned by the police. The firing lasted for an hour during which the Janib Pitafi was killed while his other accomplices managed to flee. Police sources further claimed that the killed bandit was wanted in several cases of heinous crimes including, murder, kidnapping and robbery at different police stations of the district.
