ISLAMABAD, May 6: A national committee on the prevention of violence against women, headed by Adviser to the Prime Minister on Women Development Nilofar Bakhtiar, has been established. In the four provinces, the adviser said, the provincial ministers on women development are heading those committees. A website has also been set up to facilitate women prone to violence. Talking to PTV she said, a fleet of 5,000 volunteers has been enrolled across the country to probe the areas of concern for women.
She said, electoral reforms, party reforms would be looked at to enhance women empowerment in society.
A chapter has been included in the poverty reduction strategy papers (PRSP) for women empowerment. —APP
