RAWALPINDI, May 6: The first secretary (commercial) of Indian High Commission, Ms Sapna Tiwari, held talks with the Rawalpindi Chamber and Industry (RCCI) President Najam Rehan and other office-bearers on the scope of enhancing trade relations. Speaking on the occasion, Najam Rehan said there were immense opportunities of trade between two neighbouring countries.

He said the Indian High Commission should keep in close touch with the chambers of Pakistan to achieve the goal of trade between the two nations.

He said the RCCI delegation would participate in the Pakistan-India export trade fair to be held in Amratsar in November this year.

Referring to the MoUs signed by the RCCI with the different chambers of India, Najam said such accords should be revived and the chambers of both the countries should play their due role in further cementing trade ties between Pakistan and India.

Ms Sapna Tiwari said India High Commission would keep close liaisons with the Pakistani chambers.

She said India was a market of over one billion consumers and Pakistani traders could benefit most owing to the geographical closeness and easy access to this grant market. She said there prevailed marvellous opportunities of trade between two Kashmirs and Punjabs. She said cotton and textile products as well as Pakistani jewellry were very popular in India.

She invited the RCCI to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of Punjab Haryana-Delhi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, being held in Srinagar.

She said Pakistan could impart livestock from India. She said a delegation of experts of precious stones would soon visit Pakistan. She said she would be meeting with the industries of Pindi region to hold talks on the standards and scope of products access to India.—PPI
