ISLAMABAD: A parliamentary committee on Monday directed the National Highway Authority (NHA), Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) and the Karachi commissioner to remove encroachment from the service lane of Lyari Expressway.

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Communication held a meeting in the Parliament House on Monday. The committee expressed concern over continuous and sprawling encroachment on the service lane of the Lyari Expressway despite the fact that compensation had been paid to land-owners. The land of the service road had again been encroached upon, noted the committee and directed officials of the departments concerned to remove the encroachment. The committee directed that a comprehensive report be submitted in the next meeting.

Committee’s Chairman Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi presided over the meeting which was attended by Sarzameen, Chaudhry Khalid Javid Warraich, Dr Darshan, Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Salim Rehman, Engr Hamidul Haq Khalil, Naseema Hafeez Panezai and Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio.

Senior officials of the communication ministry were also present in the meeting.
