KARACHI, May 5: A new building of the Institute of Environmental Studies at Karachi University was inaugurated on Thursday. The Dean of Karachi University’s Faculty of Science, Prof Dr Mohammad Qaiser, performed the inauguration. Speaking on the occasion, he pointed out that environmental and water pollution was on the increase in the country.

Prof Qaiser emphasised the need of creating awareness among the masses.

He also urged the research fellows associated with the institute to conduct study at various points in the metropolis.

A ‘Mehfil-i-Milad’ was also organised on the occasion which was attended by the faculty members as well as the students.

fee concession: University of Karachi has invited applications for fee concession for the academic year 2005, for which prescribed application forms are available from deputy registrar academic and can be submitted up to May 28.

According to a KU press release, candidates were asked to submit their forms along with father/guardian’s income certificate, copies of marks certificate/ Performa of last exam, university ID card, NIC and university enrolment card and B form.

Students of Business Administration, Computer Science, Health and Physical Administration, Pakistan Study Centre, Visual Studies, BS Agriculture and Petroleum Technology are not entitled to apply in the fee concession scheme.—APP/PPI
