KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s MNA Arif Alvi has said his party’ public meeting in Larkana on Jan 28 will prove that the people of Sindh support Imran Khan.

He was speaking to the media at the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday with Haleem Adil Shaikh, Azhar Leghari, Tahir Malik and Z. Talpur.

Mr Alvi said the province was facing a number of problems like shortage of potable water, broken roads and heaps of garbage while its rulers were busy in minting money through illegal means.

“These people will no more tolerate the corrupt government of the Pakistan Peoples Party,” he said.

“These so-called ministers consider themselves above the law and try to run the government like a dictator,” he added.

He said sugar mills in Sindh, which were mostly owned by Asif Zardari, were buying sugar cane at their own rates instead of following official price.

Mr Alvi condemned the PPP for misusing Sindh police to victimise its opponents by instituting false cases against them in the interior of Sindh.

He also regretted the death of a PTI worker, Shafi Solangi, from police torture in Umerkot and said the activist had been implicated in a false case.

“Police is being used to discourage people from joining the PTI,” he said.

In reply to a question, he claimed the PTI would not only emerge victorious from Sindh but from all over Pakistan with massive margins in next year’s general election.

“Electoral alliance with Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) will only be possible when both parties show interest. It always takes two to tango,” he said.

Haleem Adil Shaikh, speaking on the occasion, said the PTI was the only party which could bring real change in the province.

The Sindh government had miserably failed to deliver during its continuous nine-year-long rule, he said.

“The PTI will wind up PPP’s autocratic rule in 2018 through the power of votes. Just wait and see,” he said.

Mr Talpur from Umerkot said the PPP government was trying to implicate him in false terrorism cases so that he did not protest for the rights of the people.

He said Shafi Solangi was tortured before him but the PPP could not force PTI activists to switch their loyalties.

He appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of PTI workers’ victimisation at the hands of PPP.
