PSP chief reiterates his demand

BAHAWALPUR, Jan 6: Pakistan Seraiki Party (PSP) chief Taj Muhammad Langah has reiterated his demand for the Seraiki province.

Speaking at the party’s district convention here on Sunday, he criticized the role of the Punjab and its leaders who he alleged were reluctant to give due rights to the Seraiki population.

He said Seraiki areas were producing cotton worth Rs80 million annually but the Punjab did not give any royalty.

Rights of the Seraiki people were being usurped and only a separate province could safeguard their interests, he said.

He also condemned the Sindh province for opposing the project of the Greater Thal Canal.

The convention through a resolution supported the government in its efforts to defend the country, urging Pakistan and India to initiate dialogues to defuse the tension on borders.

It also asked the government to allot Cholistani land, cancel illegal allotments and release all political and religious leaders.
