UPPER DIR: Two children were killed and 11 others sustained injuries in a road mishap in Chukiatan area here on Thursday.

Police and local sources said that a group of people was going to Ganori from Amlooknar to attend a wedding ceremony and as their vehicle reached Chukaitan the driver lost control and it hit a roadside mountain.

As a result, two children identified as Awais and Mustafa were killed on the spot, while 11 others sustained injuries who were taken to the district headquarters hospital, Dir. The injured were identified as Bashir, Alam Zeb, driver Ishaq, Saima, Wajeeha, Ambreen, Abdullah, Ayaz, Mujeeb, Rashida Bibi and Nazia.

DHQ hospital sources said that condition of two of them was critical. Dir police said that they had registered an FIR.

SEMINAR: A seminar was held in connection with the Anti-Corruption Day in the district assembly hall here. Speaking on the occasion, deputy commissioner Mohammad Usman, district nazim Sahibzada Faseehullah and other officials said that corruption had deepened its roots in the society and all efforts should be made to eliminate it. They said that the poor people had been affected by the situation the most.
