LAHORE: Three-goal Ahmed Zubair Butt helped Newage team register an impressive 9-5 victory over Guard Group in the December Polo Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Wednesday.

Shah Shamyl Alam, Adnan Jalil Azam and Alman Jalil Azam, all scored two goals each for the winners.

For Guard Group, Taimur Mawaz Khan hammered a hat-trick while M. Samir Malik added two goals but their contribution was too less to help their team win the match.

Newage were off to a flying start as they scored three in the first chukker as Adnan (2) and Shamyl (1) fired in the goals.

The second chukker saw the winners consolidate the lead 7-1 as first Ahmed banged home twice while Shamyl and Adnan chipped in one goal each.

A late recovery from Guard Group was witnessed in the last two chukkers but they added four goals while conceding two more to lose the match by a big margin.
