DADU: Several influential figures of the local chapter of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday announced their joining the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday.

They called on PTI leader and former Sindh chief minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi at his residence in Betto Jatoi village. Prominent among them were Sardar Farooq Ahmed Bhayo, who is the son of Gul Khan Bhayo of Kandhkot; Pir Syed Ahmed Ali Shah Jilani of Ranipur, Syed Akbar Shah Jilani and Munawwar Kazi of the Kazi Faiz Mohammad family, and Ubaidullah Bukhari and Ali Ahmed Chandio of Naushahro Feroze district.

Groups of their respective supporters also accompanied the leaders, who discussed with Mr Jatoi the political situation obtaining in Sindh and other pressing issues.

Sindh PTI vice president and former Senator Sadaqat Ali Jatoi, Hyderabad division secretary Karim Ali Jatoi and district president Sardar Ashiq Ali Jatoi were also present.

Speaking to them, Mr Jatoi said PTI chief Imran Khan had promised to carry out development across Sindh. He said the PTI had launched a massive drive against corruption in the country and it was bound to succeed.

He said the PPP had become weak in Kandhkot after Sardar Farooq Ahmed Bhayo quit that party to join the PTI. The PTI would hold a public meeting in Kandhkot very soon, he added.

Mr Jatoi welcomed the leaders to the party fold and expressed his confidence that their joining would make PTI stronger in Naushahro Feroze and Kandhkot districts.
