Robbers kill salesman in Urdu Bazaar

LAHORE, Oct 20: Robbers shot dead a salesman and made off with Rs150,000 in Urdu Bazaar on Monday.

Two armed men forced their entry into a book store and held up the staff. They opened fire on salesman Amirul Haq, 30, on resistance and fled.

He was received dead at the Mayo Hospital. The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. The deceased was a resident of Rang Mahal.

ACCIDENT: A youth was killed and four other people injured in an accident near Manawan on Monday.

Bilal Ahmed, 25, a resident of Garden Town, was going along with his four friends in a car when it was overturned due to overspeeding near Manawan Village.

They sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital where Bilal succumbed to his injuries. However, the condition of the other four injured was stated to be stable.

The body was handed over to the family without autopsy.

DIED: An under-trail prisoner of the Camp Jail died following a cardiac arrest on Monday.

Ghulam Rasool, 65, was arrested from Manga Mandi on suspicion of his involvement in an encounter with police a couple of months ago.

On Sunday, he felt pain in the chest and was admitted to the Services Hospital. The police quoted the doctors as saying that he died due to a cardiac arrest.

BURN: A married woman allegedly set herself on fire after having a dispute with her husband in Nawankot on Monday.

Reportedly Shabana, 30, had frequent arguments with her jobless husband, Maqsood, over financial matters. On Monday, she set herself on fire following an argument.

She suffered serious burn injuries and was taken to the Mayo Hospital where her condition was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, a man stabbed and injured his wife in Gujjarpura over a domestic issue.

The condition of Shabana was stated to be critical.
