SARGODHA, Aug 27: Over 100 people, including women and children, hailing from the working class staged a sit-in in front of the DCO’s office on Wednesday to protest the alleged fraud and highhandedness of ex-MNA Mohammed Aslam Katchela.
The protesters presented a complaint to the DCO alleging that the ex-MNA had constituted a housing colony, Sheraz Colony, in Chak 47-NB and sold plots of two-and-a-half-marla, three-marla and five-marla on instalments.
Now when the houses had been constructed, Aslam Katchela had threatened the occupants to vacate the land as their allotment had been cancelled.
They said over 56 plots had been transferred to different people other than the previous allottees who had already paid over Rs30,000 each in instalments to the ex-MNA.
The DCO forwarded the complaint to the EDOR and ordered a probe into the matter.
The protesters dispersed after an assurance that none of the occupants would be evicted forcibly till the completion of the inquiry.
GANG BUSTED: Police claim to have busted a nine-member gang of highwaymen and seized a huge quantity of arms from their possession.
According to the Sargodha DPO, the gang led by Ghulam Raza of Chak 51-NB confessed to have committed over two dozen robberies.
