Army too good for Wapda

LAHORE, Aug 26: Army trounced Wapda 24-5 by scoring 14 runs in the fourth innings, in the national inter-departmental baseball championship at the Iqbal Park Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Army, after a slow start scored a single run in the first innings and none in the second. Therafter they accelerated the pace of the game and scored six runs in the third.

In the fourth innings, poor fielding of Wapda’s players allowed the soldiers to score 14 runs to get a wide lead due to which the match could last till fifth innings. Army scored three runs in the fifth innings.

On the other end, Wapda could score two runs each in the first and third innings and a run in the second. No score was made in the fourth and the fifth innings.

For Army, Riaz was the top scorer with four runs while Farooq, Nisar and Kamran added three runs each. Aashiq scored two runs and was the other prominent scorer.

For Wapda their skipper Basit, Saqib, Abid Mehmood, Asghar and Asjad contributed a run each.
