Plea to restore power supply

DADU, Aug 26: Residents of the Mehar taluka held a demonstration outside the Hesco sub-office in Radhan on Tuesday, demanding restoration of power supply to 50 villages.

The villagers, hailing from New Goth, Sobho Magsi, Somahar and Bali Shah, insisted that Hesco officials should restore the power supply and on their refusal the demonstrators ransacked the office and held the Hesco staff hostage.

Later, Hesco SDO Sirajuddin Memon lodged a case against 400 demonstrators at the Thariri Mohabbat police station.

The power supply to the villages was disconnected on Monday for non-payment of Hesco bills.

medical superintendent: A large number of people held a demonstration in Khairpur Nathan Shah on Tuesday to protest against the medical superintendent of the taluka hospital.

Led by Shamsuddin Gadehi and Abdul Majeed Bhurgari, the protesters blocked the Indus Highway for three hours.

Talking to the demonstrators, Mr Gadehi and Mr Bhurgari said patients were not provided with medicines and other basic facilities at the hospital.

He said the people had to purchase medicines from private medical stores at higher rates.

They said the hospital administration was charging double fees for tests.

They appealed to health department authorities to take notice of the matter.
