DADU, Aug 25: Power supply to 100 villages of the district was disconnected on Monday for non-payment of the Hesco bills.

Later, at least 50 protesters were booked by the Rukkan police for setting ablaze a Hesco complaint cell in Sita Road town following disconnection of the power supply to 50 villages of the area.

A team of Hesco, Khairpur Nathan Shah sub-division, led by SDO Aftab Ahmed Jokhio, on Sunday disconnected the power supply to 50 villages, including the Khamiso Machhi village, Laloo Solangi village, Masoo village, Kandi village, Khat village and Sita village, due to defaulting on payment of bills.

Following disconnection of the power supply, a large number of villagers held a demonstration outside the Hesco complaint cell on Sita Road town and demanded the line superintendent, Haji Khan Rahoojo, to restore the supply to their villages.

When he told them that he could not do so, the protesters started beating him up.
