SHEIKHUPURA, Aug 25: Two persons were killed while eight others, including a woman sustained bullet injuries, two of them serious, when two rival groups traded fire over a land dispute in Jamalpur village, some 75kms from here on Monday.

Ali Akbar was at daggers drawn with Riasat, Jahangir and Muhammad Khan of the same village. On Monday, Riasat along with his nine accomplices came to the house of his rival to forcibly take possession of six kanals piece of land.

After reaching there, they opened indiscriminate fire on their opponents. Already on the alert, Ali Akbar and his men also returned the fire. As a result, Akbar and Asghar Ali died instantly while Riasat, Jahangir, Muhammad Khan, Abbas, Munawar and a passerby woman, Mumtaz Bibi, suffered bullet wounds. They were rushed to Nankana Sahib THQ Hospital while Munawar and Muhammad Khan were shifted to a Lahore hospital in critical condition.

Syedwala police are going into the matter.
