Doctor shot dead

QUETTA, Aug 25: A prominent doctor and in charge of the Leprosy Centre, Zhob, Dr Naimatullah, was gunned down by an armed man in the main Gang Bazar on Monday, police said.

Dr Naimatullah was on way to the Centre but when he reached the main bazar an armed man opened indiscriminate fire at him with an automatic weapon, according to the police.

A number of bullets pierced the doctor’s body, killing him on the spot. The armed man, named by the police as Nazar Khan Musakhel, escaped from the scene.

The cause of the broad daylight murder could not immediately be ascertained. However, the police said the cause of killing could be an old enmity.

The body of the doctor was handed over to his relatives after completing legal formalities by the hospital authorities. The police have registered a case against the accused.
