HARIPUR, Aug 25: A union council Nazim and a Naib Nazim have been voted out of their office in Haripur.

Official sources said 12 members of Mankraye Union Council on Saturday supported a no-confidence motion against their Nazim Maulana Mati-ur-Rehman Qasmi.

The union council’s session was presided over by Naib Nazim Raja Mohammad Zubair Khan.

Meanwhile, the ousted Nazim got a leave sanctioned from the DCO Haripur and was reported to have said that such action in the absence of a member had no relevance and was illegal.

In the second move, Hattar Union Council Naib Nazim Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah was also dismissed through a no-confidence vote at a union council session.

Thirteen members cast their votes to oust the Nazim while three councillors abstained from the proceeding.
