HYDERABAD, Aug 25: City Taluka Nazim Haji Moinuddin Shaikh has expressed concern over open manholes at many places in the city and demanded that the Water and Sanitation Agency officials should be punished for not covering the manholes.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he criticized the insensitivity of the Wasa which had failed to cover the manholes.

He said a large number of manholes uncovered in front of Zubaida Girls College, Shah Latif Girls College, Jamia Arabia High School and other places.

He said many lives had been lost due to the open manholes and demanded compensation for a girl student who lost her life when a truck fell on her due to a manhole.

MEAT SELLERS: The city municipal administration, during raids against the illegal sale of pressure meat, arrested six meat sellers on Monday and handed them over to the Phulelli police.

According to a spokesman of the taluka municipal administration, a team appointed by the city taluka Nazim, has intensified its campaign against the sale of pressure meat.

The team raided many places in Phulelli, Faqir-jo-Pir, Nishat Chowk and other places and seized 100kg of pressurized meat and handed over six meat sellers to the Phulelli police.
