HYDERABAD, Aug 24: The chief secretary, Sindh, Mutawakil Qazi, and the provincial police officer, Sindh, Syed Kamal Shah, visited Hyderabad and Jamshoro to supervise arrangements made for the upcoming visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

The two officials went to the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and saw its auditorium where the president would be attending a programme. Later, they went to Hyderabad and saw the district Nazim’s secretariat where the president is scheduled to meet journalists.

SWC: The Sindh Water Committee on Sunday decided to present the Sindh case before President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Monday regarding construction of the greater Thal canal and the Kalabagh dam.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the SWC held at the residence of committee secretary Abrar Kazi here.

The meeting was attended by Qazi Abdul Majeed, Abdul Majeed Nizamani, Abrar Kazi and others.

It decided that SWC representatives would attend the meeting on Monday at the Governor’s House.

The SWC meeting resolved that no permanent structure on the Indus would be accepted on moral and legal basis.

It was decided to make the viewpoint of the SWC clear about Kalabagh and Bhasha dams and the Thal canal.
