Fog: Six die as wagon hits trolley

VEHARI, Jan 5: Six people were killed and 12 others injured in two accidents on Saturday morning.

The accident took place due to fog. A wagon (MNL-9572) was going to Multan from Arifwala. When it reached near Green Star Petroleum Service, some eight kilometres from here on the Vehari-Multan road, it rammed into a tractor-trolley parked along the road as the driver could not see it due to fog. Six people, including a woman and a girl, died on the spot, while eight others sustained injuries. The injured were admitted to the Vehari DHQ.

The dead were identified as Manzoor Husain of Gaggo Mandi, Salim of Arifwala, Haji Riaz Ahmad of Vehari, Perveen Akhtar of Chak 273/EB, Noor Ahmad of Arifwala and 10-year-old Sonia of Vehari.

The injured people are; Aisha Bibi, Jamil Husain, Habib Ahmad, Allah Ditta, Arshad Ahmad, Rashid Ahmad, Iftikhar Ahmad and Nasrin Bibi of Vehari.

The second accident took place on the Vehari-Luddan Road when the front tyre of a motorcycle rickshaw burst as a result of which the vehicle overturned.

All the four riders, Muhammad Mansha, Nawaz, Sakina Bibi and an unidentified man, sustained injuries.
