TIMERGARA: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan has said that true leaders are always born in simple homes instead of luxurious palaces.

Delivering a speech on “Leadership and good governance” at University of Malakand here on Tuesday, he said that good leader fought for bringing change in society. He said that a person disqualified by the Supreme Court of Pakistan was asking as to why he was ousted. He said that PTI was struggling to end the status quo and break the chains of slavery and cruelties.

The PTI chief reached the university two hours late by a helicopter from Banigala while the participants of the event were kept waiting in the convocation hall of the university. Hundreds of students, faculty members, administration officials and local elders were present on the occasion.

Mr Khan said that he would fight for establishing the rule of law, justice and merit in the country. “Society cannot remain peaceful without the rule of law and justice,” he said. He said that his party would ensure justice and bring back the plundered money if came into power in the country. He said that authoritarianism existed in the country instead of democracy.

“Europe made progress because of true democracy, merit and rule of law,” said Mr Khan. He said that his party would strengthen institutions instead of personalities. He said that corrupt, selfish and tyrant rulers paralysed people. “It is very sad that bad politicians have been imposed on people,” he added.

The PTI chief said that sons of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharief and Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar filed Rs10 billion damages suits against him to hide the corruption of their fathers.

He said that PTI freed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police from political slavery. He said that PTI introduced reforms in police, education and health sectors and ended the culture of bribery and nepotism in the province.

Mr Khan said that good governance in the province reduced crime rate and acts of terrorism by 70 per cent during the last four years. He said that the PTI government set up 10 more universities in the province, improved standard of education in state-run schools and provided billions of rupees to educational institutions to provide facilities to the students and teachers.

Adviser to Chief Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani and UoM Vice-chancellor Dr Rehmat Ali also spoke on the occasion.

After the departure of the PTI chief, party workers and students fell on the meal and one of the hall’s gates was uprooted in the rush. Many of the PTI workers returned disappointed as they were not allowed enter the hall.
