Man killed in ‘encounter’

KARACHI, Aug 23: A suspected bandit was killed and his alleged accomplice arrested on Saturday night in what the police claimed was an encounter in Kalakot.

The police said two members of the gang of Rahman Dakait, a criminal in Lyari, were spotted near Abbasi Hotel on Faqir Mohammed Road.

They said the suspects opened fire as the police tried to arrest them. One of the suspects, Imran, was killed when the police party returned the fire, they said and added that Mohammed Rafique was arrested.—Staff Reporter
