Fahad cracks century

KARACHI, Aug 22: Hope Rotary Institute inspired by a brilliant 116 by Fahad Anjum won the opening match of All-Karachi Preston Inter-university and Institute cricket tournament defeating Preston University by 76 runs at UBL Sports Complex on Thursday.

Batting first Hope Rotary scored 241 in 35 overs. Fahad Anjum 116 with ten four’s and two sixes, Sameer Khan 49 and Adnan Kaleem 24 scored the bulk of runs for their team. Anwar returned with the fine figures five wickets for 30.

In reply Preston University were bundled all out on 165 in 28.4 overs. Shiraz Butt 41, Asif Qayyum 26 and Imran Majeed 31 runs were the main contributors.

Iftikhar Ali, Mansoor Baig and Atif Moin claimed two wickets each for 27, 17 and 17 runs for the winners. —PPI
