Kulsoom Nawaz to undergo first chemotherapy session, says Maryam

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's wife, Kulsoom Nawaz, is "being prepared" to undergo her first chemotherapy session in the United Kingdom, her daughter announced on Twitter on Tuesday.

Maryam Nawaz tweeted a picture of Kulsoom in the hospital, with Nawaz by her side, and thanked her followers for their "valuable prayers".

She posted another picture of her parents with the caption "in sickness & in health... A solemn vow".

Kulsoom was diagnosed with early-stage lymphoma in August when she suddenly left for London for a checkup. She has since undergone three surgeries and remains in London.

In September, Kusloom won the NA-120 by-election. The seat had fallen vacant after her husband was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers case.

The election campaign leading up to September's by-polls was run by Maryam Nawaz.

I pray for Kulsoom Newaz health and quick recovery. At the same time people of Pakistan wish to have NS build hospitals and develop infrastructure of clean water and sanitation. Can you imagine if Pakistan has these facilities to treat rich and poor how proud the nation will be.

I would have been proud if she stayed and got treated in Pakistan. We have facilities and doctors who are very much capable of treating lymphoma. An ordinary citizen with the same condition would have gotten treated in Pakistan, why not she ?

My prayer for good health for all who are sick and ex-PM's wife. A big question is if she really can participate in the rigors of politics into the future. I know the stress of any activity can take its toll and particularly for the sick and infirm. I would advise Nawaz Sharif and family to show some wisdom and spare her from the hardship and to get rest after the treatments. Life is not the same when you are young and healthy after cancer treatments and the family should take this fact into consideration into the future.

Let's be real. Why could't be treated in Pakistan like most other Pakistanis. If the facilities in Pakistan are not good enough, who is responsible? PMLn and others who have governed Pakistan so far, should be ashamed.

Why England when we have Shaukat Khanum memorial cancer hospital, where free services are delivered to poor people. May be NS got full discount there as he does not own anything.
